Lions 4th of July Fireworks News
To the editor,
On behalf of the Lake City Lions Club, I want offer our thanks to the Lake City Police and Fire
Departments, the Lake City Public Works Department, the City of Lake City, the Lake City Marina, and
county water patrols for their assistance prior to and during the fireworks event. Thank you Lake City
Graphic for the publicity. To the residents of Marina Point, “thank you” for the generous donation and
for graciously allowing us to take over your neighborhood for the event.
We offer our thanks and appreciation to all of the businesses, organizations and individuals who
answered the call to donate funds to continue the tradition of July fireworks to Lake City. Without your
donations, the event would not have been possible.
Finally, I want to recognize our fundraising and coordinating committee, Dan Wood, Kevin Books, Ken
Jacob, and Wayne Heise. Specifically, Lion Dan Wood who deals with the most difficult task each year.
That is, trying to predict the weather.
As it takes many hours to set up for the fireworks display, the decision to postpone at the last minute is
an almost impossible task. Along with the pyrotechnics team from Flashing Thunder Fireworks, Lion Dan
watched the radar, and varying weather forecasts, saw a short window of opportunity to continue with
the display.
We will begin planning shortly for next year’s fireworks . We have very good start in fundraising
department, but more will be needed. If you wish to get an early start in financially supporting the
fireworks in 2027, send your check, payable to Lake City Lions Club, to Lake City Lions, P. O. Box 212,
Lake City, MN 55041. Denote fireworks on your check memo line.
